Performance Programme

Following on from 2015’s much talked about performances – Town Hall Events (THE), along with Learning Through Arts, are delighted to continue their partnership with Wirksworth Festival to bring you a fresh and exciting Performance Programme for 2016.

THE Music features Mark Lockett in a solo piano recital, renowned Tenor, Richard Roddis, the thrilling and dramatic Japanese Drumming company Mugenkyo Taiko, Jazz Rock band, Get The Blessing and the afro-beat and reggae rhythms from the Soothsayers.

THE Theatre features the return of two unique companies: Theatre Témoin, and Sleeping Trees Theatre.  THE Young People and Families features a musical adventure, What do Pirates do all Day?  THE Dance features Wirksworth’s own dance theatre company, INdependDance with Human, Kind.

THE Spoken Word features author Kate Hardy, magical storytelling with The Kingdom of the Heart from Adverse Camber, A Story to Tell with Ava Hunt and wordsmith extraordinaire Mark Gwynne Jones.  And new for this year THE Comedy features two late nights with Shazia Mirza and rising star Holly Burn, plus an evening which defies description, Cabaret Boom Boom!

Town Hall Events is an independent, not for profit organisation run by volunteers which aims to bring quality performance to the Wirksworth Town Hall with profits channelled into improving further performance possibilities.
