The fantastic opening weekend when art takes over the town 

The whole town becomes a gallery with more than 170 artists and makers showing their work in private homes, historic building, gardens, shop windows and churches.  A great chance to buy affordable art, meet the artists and take a peek at some of Derbyshire's best interiors! 

With contemporary fine art exhibited throughout the historic market town, unique and inspiring contemporary craft and design and exciting dance, drama, music and performance events, the spectacular Opening Weekend invites you to join us for the day and stay long into the evening. 

Every year the Festival embraces its historic roots with 'Clypping the Church' taking place at St Mary's Church in the heart of Wirksworth.  We welcome everyone to take part in this ancient ceremony which sees the congregation join hands in thanksgiving to completely encircle the Church.  

Applications for artist for this years Trails are now closed. We've had over 160 applications, with many new faces,  so it promises once again to be a great year.
