Visual Arts and Trails
Art & Architecture Trail + Makers Market 11-12 September
Art takes over the town! Join us for our BIG opening weekend
The whole town becomes a gallery with over 100 artists and makers showing their work in private homes, historic buildings, gardens, shop windows and churches. A great chance to buy affordable art, meet the artists and have a peek inside some of Derbyshire’s most intriguing interiors!
Guided Arts Walk and Artist Talks 18-19 September
A chance to take a closer look at some of this year’s most exciting work, including site specific commissions. The Festival curator will lead a tour around some of the town’s key gallery venues, to meet artists and discuss their work.
Our visual arts programme goes from strength to strength as we continue to explore the relationship between Art & Architecture, investigating the nature, meanings and uses of the town’s landscape.
Highlights include:
Goh Ideta - new work by featured artist whose Cube Ring thrilled and intrigued last year’s Festival-goers.
A Pavilion for Wirksworth - artists and architects create a temporary structure for the town.
[Im]Possible Wirksworth: An inventory of unrealised ideas - an exhibition from architects, designers and artists, proposing exciting, radical new buildings and remodelling of Wirksworth.
Film Salon - artists' short film and video, with an architecture theme.
Graduate Showcase - selected work by some of the region’s outstanding young art graduates.
