Street music and performance for 2009

Building on the success of 2008. This years themes are Town centre sound stage, Railway Songs of Tragedy Loss and Escape, Quality music to sit and listen to, and Pub sessions.

How to get involved – what we need from you

•    Email in to info@wirksworthfestival.co.uk ASAP to register your interest, and you’ll go on the ‘Potentials’

•    As soon as you can commit to coming, fill in and return one of the two Questionnaires  (‘Musicians’ is aimed at individuals and smaller groups only needing music venues; ‘Performers’ is for non-musical performances, ‘visual’ musicians (with dancers/drummers etc) and choirs/bands needing more space but not a PA) – hopefully the questions are all clear, please return by email or post – you’ll then be on the ‘Perfomers09’ elist

•    The more flexibility you give us, the more likely you are to get slots – but if you’ve particular requirements we can usually meet them
•    Once you’ve confirmed please consider yourself ‘booked’ and wait for your itinerary about a week before the event; so let us know promptly if your availability or requirements change
•    Questions/comments/special requests, and interest in Pub Sessions,  to dave.soke@btopenworld.com tel 01629-825531 please
•    Please come and listen even if/when you’re not playing – we need feedback and ideas for how to do it better in 2010

Why you should come to Wirksworth Festival Trails Street Music 2009 - what we offer you

•    Superb venues, two with pin-sharp acoustics and the rest with very adequate PAs with ‘idiot instructions’ (and one venue with a semi-professional Soundman)
•    Full Travel expenses for those who need - sorry, no actual payment, we can’t pay everyone so we can’t pay anyone, so come for pleasure+ travel costs(+hat if you want)
•    A wonderful experience, a vast audience (even if most seem to be walking past taking no notice, they’ll hear you!)
•    Confirmation as soon as you want that you’re coming and performing here this year – see above for how this is done – and from then on you’ll be on the ‘Performers09’ elist and we’ll keep you informed (NB – once we’re 60% full on this year’s 100 slots we’ll introduce a ‘quality and variety’ bar for those wanting to play here, so if in doubt please confirm soon!)
•    Until you can confirm, we’ll put you on our ‘Potentials’ elist’ and keep you informed and invited
•    To list you from confirmation onwards on our ‘2009 – The Music’ publicity, with your performing name and a brief description and which day/s you’ll be here
•    About two weeks before the event, we’ll advertise our remaining ‘slots’ to all Potentials
•    About five days before the event we’ll confirm everyone’s exact itinerary, within the limits of the availability previously agreed (if we’re over-subscribed you may get one less slot than you’ve requested)
•    Full listing from that point onwards on local posters around town and at the venues, and on the website (listing by venue and also by Artist and giving contact details)
•    Potential for specific posters if you provide us with images – but not for everyone!
•    Ongoing listing for a year afterwards on the Performers09 page (similar to Performers08, see link) giving details of who played with description and contact details so people can deal with you direct
•    Stay on our mailing lists so we can tell you about next year’s (with priority for bookings) and of any other local playing opportunities we know about
