Feedback from Musicians and Performers 2008/ 2009

“The Belly Dance Flames had a great day on Sunday. We had made some very small fliers about where we were and when and send round a pretty teenage belly dancer in costume to walk round the town and hand them out! We got big crowds!! (She did have her boyfriend as a bodyguard). Fantastic location PLEASE can we book the memorial gardens again for next year.”
Judith, Belly Dance Flames 2009

“I'd like to say how much I enjoyed Street Music this year. I have played at this event for the past three years and 2009 was by some distance the best so far. The weather was great, there were loads of people around, the venues were excellent and the vast majority of fellow musicians were polite, friendly and respectful.”
Jonathan Beckett 2009

“Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed myself at the weekend and a big thank you to you for including me in the weekend’s events. The whole town was buzzing with music and art and folk just drinking it all in. Wonderful! The street music venues were all excellent especially Babington, fab acoustics and a lovely natural amphitheatre.”
Nigel Beck 2009

“I really enjoyed my 2 forty minute slots playing my new Autoharp in the United Reformed Church, the acoustics were superb, a large number of people passed through and some sat in the pews and listened to the sound I produced. Next year I would love to come for both days.”
John Orchard, Autoharp 2009

“We had a great time, really enjoyed it. At the smaller venues - Hatfield and the Station - we felt the minimal PA was actually unnecessary, but then we can make quite a lot of noise anyway. Graham and Panda's stage at the library was excellent, very good sound. Wirksworth was a lovely place to play, very welcoming and well organised, I look forward to next year's.”
Marc Block 2009

“Enjoyed our weekend once we had sorted out where to go and we got 3 paid gigs out of it.”
Pete, Beechwood 2008

“I've honestly enjoyed every slot I've done. I'm a bit easy to please, just love playing outdoors, but I got great feedback from everywhere I played and I've never seen so many smiling faces for a long time regardless of the cranky weather. Had one of the best weekends of my life, lovely people, great vibe, credit to you man!”
Tim McDermott 2008

“You and your team can feel very proud of your efforts. Everyone I saw was having a wonderful day - performers and visitors - and it certainly opened up Wirksworth in a way nothing else could. If you're ever crazy enough to do it again we'd appreciate being asked to go crazy with you. They kept us singing at the Royal Oak way beyond the official closing time but the landlord and landlady were well up for it - very pleasant, very complimentary. Again, our congratulations on a brilliant, inclusive idea well executed!”
