CoMA East Midlands is part of Contemporary Music-making for Amateurs, the only national organisation which specialises in contemporary music for amateur players and singers. CoMA East Midlands first played at Wirksworth in 2007 and is looking forward to performing for its audiences again. Their musical director since 2000 has been Kieran O’Riordan and the ensemble is comprised of enthusiastic musicians from the entire region from many different walks of life. The programme will include music by East Midlands' composers, students of Birmingham Conservatoire (who have been working with CoMA East Midlands as part of CoMA's Open Score Project), Cornelius Cardew (paragraph 2 of The Great Learning), and other favourites of the ensemble. For more information about CoMA nationally and the regional ensemble, please see www.coma.org.
