Wirksworth Festival is on the look out for artists and designer makers of all shapes and sizes for this year’s Art & Architecture Trail. And the deadline countdown has begun…
Taking place 9 – 10 September, the Art & Architecture Trail showcases a full range of contemporary art, from ceramics to installations, paintings and photography to jewellery and handmade books.
Last year over 150 artists and designer makers exhibited in some 70 different venues including private homes, cafes, pubs and public spaces throughout the town. Last year, the hugely popular opening weekend event to Wirksworth Festival saw more than 4,000 people visit.
The town comes alive with contemporary visual art and craft and street theatre, music and film. A curated exhibition of well-known and up and coming artists forms the centre piece of the Trail in the Parish Room and St Mary’s Church.
The Wirksworth Festival Art & Architecture Trail was one of the first of its kind in the country and continues to be one of the best, blazing a trail for other events around the country.
Exceptional, engaging and high quality artists are selected each year for the Art & Architecture Trail and is a chance to buy first-class affordable art, meet the artists and peek inside some of Derbyshire’s most distinctive homes, in this fascinating historical town.
“As well as the opportunity for a huge number of people to see your work, it’s a great opportunity to meet art buyers and network with other artists and designer-makers, and just experience the atmosphere of the weekend,” comments the Festival Chair, Carol Taylor.
Applications should be made online here by 5pm on 12 May.
