It’s that time of year again when we’re on the look out for artists and designer-makers of all disciplines, both local and from further afield, to be part of the Festival’s celebrated Art & Architecture Trail.

Applications for artists and designer-makers to be part of the 2018 Art & Architecture Trail are now OPEN!

Taking place 8 – 9 September, the Art & Architecture Trail is the Festival’s opening weekend showcasing a full range of contemporary art, from ceramics to installations, paintings and photography to jewellery and handmade books.

A highlight of the East Midlands cultural calendar, the Trail weekend features some 150 artists and designer-makers, both local and from further afield, in over 70 different venues across the town, including private homes, cafes, pubs and public spaces.

Who to choose?

When choosing applications to see who will be part of the Trail, the selection panel look for high quality, engaging and work relevant to our audience. The Festival is always keen to see new work and welcomes applications from those new to the Festival as well as those that have exhibited before.

“This year we’ve made some changes to try and make this even easier for you. If you’ve applied before we think you’ll notice a big difference especially when it comes to uploading your images, which is now much easier and simpler.” Wirksworth Festival Chair, Carol Taylor.

Applications should be made online here by 5pm on 30 April.

Wirksworth comes alive

Over the weekend, the town is abuzz with from visitors from across the region and beyond enjoying contemporary visual art and craft, street theatre, music and film as well as some good local food and drink.

The Trail is a great opportunity to see exceptional work and to buy first-class affordable art, meet the artists and peek inside some of Derbyshire’s most distinctive homes, in this fascinating historical town
