Keeping it in the family

Wirksworth-based artists Johnny White and Amanda Wray have put together a show that offers wide-appeal with a good dose of fun thrown in.

This year’s Curated Exhibition is all things family, linking together the curators Johnny White and Amanda Wray’s home town, the Festival as a family occasion and the wide family appeal of White-Wray’s interactive work.

The Family Show, curated by local artist duo Johnny White and Amanda Wray, features their quirky and humorous kinetic sculptures. Showing alongside Johnny and Amanda’s work in The Maltings – formerly the Parish Room – will be paintings by Tracey Keeping (another Wirksworth local) and animation by The Singh Twins.

Next door in St Mary’s Church the exhibition continues with the work of Andi Dakin whose Church Urchins will be installed around the building. Outside close to The Maltings will be an immersive experience in the shape of the Astronauts Caravan by Andy Plant and Tim Hunkin – the chance to experience a family holiday of the future. Astronaunts Caravan is an immersive experience of a futuristic family holiday

The Curated Exhibition brings together work of a conceptual nature, designed to be ambitious, accessible and thought provoking and can be seen during the first and second weekend of the Festival.
