Mystery art sale to raise money for youth arts

As part of this year’s celebrations, the Festival is hosting a mystery postcard art sale to raise money for youth arts.

One of this year’s celebratory events is the Postcard Art Project – not only the chance to own a piece of art at an affordable price but with proceeds going towards supporting art workshops and activities for young people.

A host of people including famous names, artists and others are being invited to contribute a piece of art, be it a painting, photograph, poetry, prose or indeed anything that will fit on an A5 piece of paper. The pieces will be exhibited anonymously and sold off at £10 each during the Festival’s Art & Architecture Trail weekend.

Festival Chair, Carol Taylor, said: “We want to give as many people as possible a chance to buy a piece of work at an affordable price – and some lucky people will find themselves with a potentially valuable piece of art!”.

“Our hope is that the work will be purchased because the imagery appeals to the buyer rather than who they guess has produced it,” she added.

If you are interested in contributing a postcard to the sale we would love it hear from you.

All artworks need to fit on an A5 piece of paper. They must be signed on the back so the artist’s name is obscured until it is purchased. We will be publishing list of all the contributors and at the venue where they will be exhibited. You can send your submission to us at the Festival Office. We need to receive all entries by 2 September 2019.
