Following the success of Michael Shaw’s 2019 residency, we’re seeking applicants for this year’s Lodge Project.
Following on from the success of Michael Shaw as the Festival’s first artist-in-residence, we’re delighted to announce that The Lodge Project will continue for the second year running.
We’re looking for an established artist with a minimum of 5 years’ experience, working in a two dimensional medium, to undertake a funded residency in the Derbyshire Dales from July to September 2020. We’re also looking for an artist that doesn’t already know the area – our aim is that the outcomes of the residency will reflect the local landscape, diverse architecture, industrial past and community from an outsider’s point of view.
The successful artist will be provided with a fully furnished 18th Century, 3-bedroom cottage about 1 mile from Wirksworth, to live in and work during the three month residency from July – September 2020. A stipend of £3,000 will be paid to the artist.
The deadline for applicants is Tuesday 31 December 2019.
If you would like to apply to be Wirksworth Festival’s 2020 artist-in-residence, you need to be a UK-resident artist working in two dimensions, with the desire to refresh and develop your practice.
- Send a proposal of approximately 300 words, illustrating how you might approach the residency and what you would hope to achieve, with examples of relevant exhibitions or projects you may have led or taken part in.
- A short CV.
- 10 images of recent work.
Please email your application to the Festival Chair at email@example.com please also use this email address for any enquiries about the project.
NB: the artist will need their own transport and no studio equipment is provided.
