I try to bring together history and words into images that speak out from the past. Recently I inherited the family tin of photographs and I used these to tell the stories hidden behind a pair of staring eyes or a stiff corset, with both research and imagination. I like to think I am ‘Honouring the Ancestors’. I have hand-made a book of my poems illustrated with these pictures called ‘Out of the Tin’. Other of my ‘Heads’ speak from the golden age of Victorian advertising. Each head has a cloud of words that tell their thoughts, often surprising, usually comical.
