Working in reclaimed copper and wood, my sculptures are inspired by the Derbyshire countryside. Taking the theme of Virtuous Objects in Buddhism, my aim is to capture a sense of peace and tranquillity in my sculptures. Each sculpture is individual. I work from sketches and photographs to create an initial design, then search for the right wood. Some pieces suggest a landscape, and I use woodworking techniques to shape others until I get the right effect. I hand cut the copper and use a lot of different methods to add texture, colour and detail.
