My practice is an exploration of natural sciences combined with the symbolism associated with vanitas and memento mori to reference the transience of life and the fragility of human existence.
These photographs aim to emulate the sense of awe and wonder associated with the cabinets of curiosities that were first established in the seventeenth century. These cabinets contained objects of rarity and novelty, the strange and the bizarre, things that seemed to be impossible. Sometimes they were impossible as they often included fakes, and it is this merging of fact and fallacy that I use throughout my work.
