Celia Kent
installation

Festival: 2018

My creative journey began with a tatty old ledger that turned out to be part of an old diary written between 1886-1892. Research from the diary itself uncovered the life and times of William Wills of Scorton, Lancashire, his family, wife and children, farming life and the everchanging weather; I was struck by their Methodist faith and how this was central to the way they lived their lives. Working in mixed media textiles enables the narrative to have tangible outcomes; clothing being central to the themes linking the past and the present, presented as an installation.
