Sustainable contemporary designs in recycled metals and waste materials. My work has an environmental conscience and a clean and distinctive style. For Plasticity, I collect single-use plastic on my daily dog walks along the river. I recycle and reform this by hand back in my studio. I shape, refine and position it within sculptural recycled metal structures to create colourful wearable art pieces that are directly inspired by the straight lines of human industry. My work responds to pertinent global concerns and the effect of human activity on the planet with dramatic visual references and an urban aesthetic, yet it remains ultimately wearable, in an intriguing interspace between the familiar and the unconventional. My collections and ‘slow-craft’ practice engage with debates around sustainability, preciousness and waste in the design industry and the movement towards a circular economy.
