Recently, Fiona Rainford has been studying the old pattern books from Lancashire Mills now held at Lancashire Archives. Her artwork uses a variety of techniques which depend on the concept and the context of the work. It is often inspired by items and places which no longer serve their original purpose.
The Red Tape Project continues this interest in old disused mills. Previous work looked at items left behind when mills closed. The current work in progress involves drawings, photographs and pieces inspired by tape discarded by the Archives.
