Viewed from a distance you see a coherent landscape with the richness of a photograph; however closer inspection reveals a blend of many incongruous fragments of printed photography. I love combining the rich colours and details in a surreal and playful way to create landscapes which work on both levels. Based on my own photographic reference, my artwork begins with a loose pencil sketch on card. Then, having arranged my cuttings to form my ‘palette’, I build up my landscapes using a contact adhesive before burnishing for a fixed flat finish. I mostly work with a scalpel for precision cutting.
