I’m a professionally trained artist situated on the edge of the Peak District.
I originally set-up as a ceramic sculptor, but now make semi abstract landscape and seascape paintings. I photograph and sketch outside, to aid memory. Back in the studio I build up thin layers of translucent oil paint, then layer on thicker impasto knife work. I try to catch something of the beauty, light, colour, and raw energy of a place, as well as the feeling it evokes and how we emotionally connect to our natural environment. I hope others recognise some of that connection in my work.
