found materials

Festival: 2022

The “little people” came about when I happened across some old fence post wire left out for the scrap man and realised I could repurpose it to make 3-dimensional textile sculptures.
I’m a found materials artist, and I describe myself as materials led, so old maps become props for walkers, broken paintbrushes used to create artists, tarnished teaspoons become garden trowels, pretty much anything is possible from Morris dancers to bee keepers.
Wherever possible I use my 1930s sewing machine, “Pearl the Singer”, as like everything I work with, she has her own history and is a fitting partner.
