Open as North End Knitting School, with demonstrations and examples of work produced by my students. Throughout the Trail weekend I hope to run taster sessions in machine knitting, in which people can come and make a simple product to take away with them. My aim is to promote the craft of machine knitting by getting my students involved, thus creating a vibrant community of knitters to interact with visitors and talk about their individual projects.
I first learnt to machine knit about 30 years ago, therefore I have a wealth of knowledge to share with those who are interested in the craft. As a designer, when I am not teaching at Nottingham Trent University, I can be found in the studio developing ideas and products for new workshops. In my day job I now work with computerised, industrial knitting machines, so relish the chance to get back to basics and be hands on with the machinery rather than having to work through a computer interface.
