I use art therapy to help manage my bipolar disorder. My voices and visions create pressure in my head and drawing releases those innermost thoughts that try to control me. Without art I would not be here today. Exhibiting gets my message to a wider audience, helping to tackle stigma and educate people on mental health issues. Once you start that conversation many open up about their own experiences. Knowing you are not alone gives you the confidence to seek help. I draw everyday, a black gel pen and Radio Four is all I need.
