Festival: 2018

Over the past year my painting has focused on the landscape of the Ecclesbourne Valley found around the B5023 from Idridgehay to Wirksworth. Using roads, paths, river and streams, painting in oils en plein air and in the studio, I take the observer on a journey into the beautiful landscape of Derbyshire. With me on that journey, in my peripheral vision, are artists such as Paul Cezanne, Peter Lanyon, Richad Diebenkorn and Wayne Thiebaud, who guide my compositions colour and subject choices. My current collection of works include panoramic vistas recorded from the top of Alport Heights and intimate studies of small pockets of this corner of Derbyshire.
