My recent work use minor landscape elements rather than traditionalviews. It is more personal than a record of a location. Amongst the cultural baggage I bring to the act of making pictures are an interest in Romanticism, historical landscape painting and twentieth century Op art. The selected landscape features become compositional devices, along with manipulating the tonal range and removing the horizon to foster ambiguity in the 2D picture space. The resultant photographic pictures use the landscape as a vehicle for my visual ideas.
