Jo McChesney

Festival: 2019

After working as a textile designer, illustrator and lecturer, I travelled to Kyoto, Japan to study the traditional technique of woodblock printmaking. Since returning to the UK I have continued to work with woodblock prints using a more western approach to image making. My inspiration draws upon the natural world, and focuses on fleeting moments in time, ripples in water, light shift.

My recent work is based on seeds, especially dandelions, observing how they silently explode, are sucked into the void, carried by air currents, remapping the natural world, creating the continual change and flux of new growth.
