Joanna Bunbury

Festival: 2017

My work is inspired by my deep connection with the natural world and the ebb and flow of nature’s fruition. I am particularly inspired by organic forms such as cones and seed pods which I make into large scale forms to work within the natural enviromnment. My forms are made by the press moulded, pinching and coiling techniques of clay fabrication. Surfaces are achieved through impressed, raised and sprigg decorative techniques. Glazes are stoneware fired and at present I am experimenting with crystaline and crator glazes to create textural surfaces within my work which give both a visual and tactile experience.
