Festival: 2018

My work is inspired by my deep connection with the natural world and the ebb and flow of nature’s fruition. I am particularly inspired by organic forms such as cones, fruits and seed pods. My forms are made by the press moulded, pinching and coiling techniques of clay fabrication. Surfaces are achieved through impressed, sprigged, and raised decorative techniques. My work is Raku fired and reflects the freeness within surface texture and colour created through the play of flame and the random effects of the reduction process. I am at present working on larger scale forms that work within and connect with the natural environment.
