After graduating in textiles I have taught fine art and creative textiles in London and Nottingham. My interest has always been in textiles, especially the wet felt making process, and experimenting with wool in the same way an artist uses canvas and paint. I use the fibres in a painterly way to create texture and light effects in my work, while at the same time, allowing the fibres to speak for themselves. Using finest quality Merino wool and silk fibres, I can choose to, let the medium control the design, or immerse myself in a particular feature and control the fibres as if I were painting. In doing so I feel I have bridged the gap between fine art and textiles and given this ancient craft a more contemporary image.
