Maggie Cullen

Festival: 2020

My work is focused around the human form, our stories, our bizarre behaviours in the folly of living theatre. Emanating from a shared sense of human fragility.

This work is inspired by countrywide festivals and ceremonies around the Morris and Green Man an ancient symbol of the power of nature and renewal.

The ideas accumulate into the stance of small vulnerable figures made from overtly fragile recycled materials. The use of paper is in sympathy with the ephemeral nature of my work. The small scale and the delicate materials used enhance jewel like individual works that intentionally inhabit a tiny amount of real space.
