The paintings I make, reference elements of mental illness reflecting my life as a person living with depression, those around me and my place in the world. The work explores isolation, belonging, identity, divide, empathy and love.
The paintings set out to navigate/communicate the increasing divide in society and the emotional isolation it creates.
I try to balance some of the sadness and melancholy found in my work with the optimism and hope for the journey to well-being.
