Festival: 2015

The works explores an ever changing landscape and the Heritage that once thrived around Derbyshire and still does in many ways today: man’s ever growing presence has changed the face of our surroundings; vast areas are quarried in order to meet the growing demands of today. Whilst the implications of quarrying are destructive, they give us a great insight into the layers of organic materials that lie beneath our feet. Through the process of printmaking, painting and drawing, I use these organic materials to explore mark making, whilst representing the quarrying industry that still thrives today.
