Oliver Meller

Festival: 2015

I am a wildlife Sculptor with a well-defined love of carving directly into natural stone. My work has an elegant paired back simplicity, where smooth tactile polished curves and surfaces are balanced by rougher textures. A large source of inspiration comes from ancient artefacts, drawing on the shared origins of Humanity, Agriculture, and Civilisation. Prehistoric art and the ancient art of the near east have long been rich sources of inspiration for my work. I see my work as a contemporary take on what is an instinctive and ancient desire to express our connection with the natural world.
