Surface and shape rather than functionality are aspects of personal interest. Full bodied bottle forms are thrown while the large layered bowls, inspired by geological formations, are hand built in strips.

Textured stoneware, crystalline glazes, burnishing, low fired glazes, and pit firings are techniques and processes explored in order to create individual surface qualities.

Some crystalline pieces are post- glaze fired in combustible material filled saggars within an electric kiln which creates a localised reduction atmosphere resulting in a range of extreme surface changes altering greens to copper/red in crystalline glazes.
