My work has been inspired by an A-Level Art project on ‘Time and Weathering’. In these images, manmade materials are overwhelmed by the natural processes of aging and decay. My aim was to create evocative pieces, full of colour and texture, while keeping the subject matter ambiguous. Whether a rusting train carriage or a torn-out seat cushion, the images are hard to place. The idea of focusing on specific, up close areas brings another dimension to the viewer, as each image is individually intriguing. We are coaxed into questioning what we see. Photographs taken at Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, Wirksworth.
