Cut card and fabric

Festival: 2019

I had the good fortune to have some free time in 2017. I was wondering how to fill my days, avoid being bored and possibly plan a new career. I started using black card and a scalpel to experiment with some ideas. I went on to develop an unusual technique marrying card and fabrics. I am passionate about this creative combination, loving the clean sharp lines and contrasts of the dark card, which are softened by the addition of fabrics for colour. From the first hand-cut prototype picture, I create limited number of laser cut versions, which offer the possibility of exploring different fabrics, adding details by hand so each can remain unique.
