The Lost Suffragette Olivia Smedley tells the fascinating story of Elizabeth Clarke Wolstenholme Elmy, who as the first paid employee of the women’s movement, became known as the Scourge of Parliament. Elizabeth was an essayist, poet and highly effective campaigner not only for the vote but for women’s equality. Because of her radicalism, she was written out of history, but today she is gaining the recognition she deserves.
