On this workshop you will be able to explore different techniques to manipulate and transform fabric. Use their different qualities to extend their decorative and embellishing effects. From heat treating to fraying, from deconstructing and wrapping, all these different effects will enhance your textile work.
What to bring:
Please bring a heat gun or embossing gun and a basic sewing kit, however there will be a few heat guns available on the day to share.
Also bring small pieces of materials such as hessian, linen, organza, synthetic fabric and a variety of cotton fabric to stitch into. A small pack of materials will be provided for the workshop and extra packs can be purchased for £5.

Stella is a Welsh textile artist and tutor, who graduated from UWIC after studying B A Honours in Contemporary Textile Practice. She enjoys working with the wonderful versatility of fabric and specialises in recycling found textiles transforming them into new creative embellishments and decorative pieces. She explores manipulation techniques from traditional stitch + smocking to new ones like heat treatment and deconstruction within her work. She enjoys bringing new life + purpose to old discarded fabrics which can be rejuvenated into something of beauty again.
